Description

Primary Function

Shipping Specialist is responsible to arrange, direct and execute transactions related to the transportation and shipment of products for internal, domestic, international and Hazmat shipments.

Supports company initiatives to include Lean Manufacturing programs.

Manage Dock operations, maintain inventory levels of raw materials, work in process and ensure finished goods are accurately stated, using ERP and shop floor systems.

Responsibilities

Prints and monitors pick lists daily and distributes to shipping personnel.
Compiles shipment data and prepares documents such as packing list and bill of ladings necessary to route shipment of materials.
Prepares import/export documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Determines shipping method of materials, using knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Contact carrier representative to decide to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
Records shipment data to include pro numbers, weight, and charges for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
Prepare all paperwork for vendor returns and outgoing courier shipments.
Complies and posts data for the Daily Management Board.
Validates freight expenses to include air and expedited shipments.
Maintains and updates UPS and small carrier software systems.
Performs material transactions for offsite warehouse shipments.
Performs shipper/receiver and material handling functions as needed.

Skill/Knowledge

Demonstrate understanding of and commitment to internal control.
Excellent math and accounting skills
Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel
Excellent organizational and timemanagement skills
Must be able to operate a forklift.

Experience/Education

High School Diploma
Problem solving, detailorientation and organizational skills are essential.

Physical effort and dexterity:

Able to work at a computer for extended periods
Able to navigate safely in an office, plant & warehouse environment
Visual acuity, hearing, speaking:
Able to effectively communicate through written correspondence and verbal communication.
Able to climb in/out of forklift.
