Description
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Greeting all visitors in person and on the phone in a positive and professional manner.
- Answering telephone, screening, and directing calls, taking, and relaying messages as needed.
- Checking out patients, including scheduling future appointments and answering any questions.
- Collecting, processing, and posting payments for all services rendered both in person and over the phone.
- Checking eligibility and benefits verification as needed. Validation of charges prior to claims submission for optimal reimbursement.
- Post and validate payments received from commercial carriers. Typically patients receive reimbursement directly since office is out of network, however some insurance carriers will pay the provider.
- Preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using our designated billing platform, including electronic and paper claim processing.
- Following up on unpaid claims within industry standard revenue cycle time frame.
- Calling insurance companies regarding any rejections or denials as an advocate to our patients.
- Identifying and billing secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Reviewing accounts for insurance or patient followup (patient may need called to clarify coverage updates).
- Extensive knowledge about billing to ensure accurate communication with either the insurance carrier or the patient.
- Managing patient revenues deposits and running monthly reports as required by practice.
- Maintaining a system of controls for cash receipts, and daily reconciliation processes to ensure proper handling of monies received.
- Organizing and maintaining a tidy and professional appearance of the reception area.
- Other duties as necessary to achieve practice needs and goals.
