Job Function:

The purpose of this position is to purchase quality material and/or transportation at the negotiated pricing.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Create & process PO's for A) Stock/Inventory B) Sales Orders C) Estimate/Quotes.
  • Process Brick Shipping Release Form. Verifying accuracy, for SO, Manufacturer, Fill in PO and Manufacturers pickup #.
  • Followup on orders already placed prior for ETA, etc. as requested by location managers, sales and Customer Service teams.
  • Review all manufacturers order acknowledgements for accuracy. I.E., Correct PO#, shipping address, pricing, qty, product number and description, correct BSC location or job address.
  • Responsible to readjust PO's and SO for correct location. Create delivery tickets for all direct loads. Coordinate weights of all loads to make sure trucks are full be legal. Also tenders load sheets to trucking companies and manufacturers.
  • Update Truck Log throughout the day.
  • Provide special order quotes as requested on a daily basis by sales team & customer service. Provide information to pricing team to create new JDE Items on a daily basis for new & specialorder items, etc.
  • Review purchasing reports from the day before for accuracy, etc. Review Reorder Point reports every day and make sure each yard follows up with what is needed if it is not already on order.
  • Assist sales team and the tracking of job issues with our manufacturing partners to make sure the proper credits are resolved and issued.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Requirements and Skills:


  • High school diploma, general education degree or equivalent
  • Professional certifications and associated training programs, a plus.
  • A minimum of 35 years preferred in the hardscape/natural stone, masonry and/or building material industry.
  • A minimum of 35 years of buying or material & transportation purchasing experience.
  • Experience with larger ERP such as JD Edwards
  • Ability to analyze material sales and movement history
  • Ability to meet deadlines, strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of various masonry materials.


  • Strong computer skills

  • Word, Excel, etc.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage relationships both internally and externally.
  • Strong problem solving.
