- Conduct precise nutritional assessments and evaluate diet suitability based on patients' physiological and psychological requirements gathered from medical records, interviews, lab results, and measurements. Give recommendations to physicians promptly.
- Monitor and document changes in patients' nutritional condition, tolerance, and nutrient intake, suggesting and implementing adjustments as needed.
- Provide dietary education to patients or their families as necessary. Record completion of education and patient understanding in a timely manner.
- Engage in continuous quality improvement activities as per departmental guidelines.
- Arrange nutrition training sessions for dietetic, nursing, and medical staff. Offer friendly and helpful guidance during staff education.
- Create or update educational materials suitable for the hospital's patient demographic within specified timeframes.
- Ensure screening, assessments, interventions, and competency evaluations for Registered Dietitians, Dietetic Technicians, diet office personnel, and food service staff.
- Manage the diet office, menu system, and patient meal service coordination.
- Develop and conduct orientation programs for new Food and Nutrition personnel.
- Actively engage in committee activities like Pharmacy and Therapeutics, Ethics, Discharge Planning, and Length of Stay.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and files accurately and legibly.
- Collaborate with the Food Service Director as needed.
- Adhere to clinical policies and procedures.
- Stay current with continuing education to maintain Registered Dietitian status.
- Bachelor's degree in dietetics or food and nutrition from an accredited program.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the American Dietetic Association.
- Must hold a registered dietitian certification in Illinois.
- Minimum one year of experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent personal and organizational abilities.
- Proficient in numerical tasks.
