What is the objective of our Refugee and Immigration Services Program?

Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigration Services collaborates with refugee communities and other partners to create initiatives that utilize community strengths to foster the integration of refugees and immigrants into communities throughout southeastern Wisconsin.

Integration is an ongoing process in which refugees, immigrants, and members of the host society develop strong economic, social, cultural, and civic ties together.

This results in more secure, lively, and unified communities.
What will I do as a Refugee Education Developer?

The Refugee Education Developer builds new connections, expands program influence within local communities, and ensures a seamless interaction between volunteer mentors/friends, staff, and the client (learners) in their journey towards citizenship.

This role will also:
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners for volunteer recruitment and training.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for volunteers and clients on a daily basis within the program.
  • Conduct training sessions for volunteers on various topics such as Cultural Humility, Strengths Based Approach, Citizenship process, and Best Practices for Adult Education.
  • Translate and create informational videos on citizenship and immigration topics in a refugee language.
  • Offer basic case management, referrals, or resources to clients regarding public benefits, education, and navigating American systems.
Salary: $37,000 - $40,000

Qualifications
  • Associate degree in business, liberal arts, social services, communication, or related field; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience in education, communications, or social services is advantageous.
  • Bilingual in English and Rohingya, Burmese, Malay, Karen, or another refugee language.
  • Cultural familiarity with current refugee communities is a bonus.
  • Experience in teaching English as a second language is beneficial.
  • Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and vehicle insurance.
