Sometimes you patiently practice with an eight-year-old until they no longer lisp or their grammar improves. Then you support a stutterer to speak more fluently and become more confident in their expression. You also work with stroke patients to help them regain lost language skills. Speech therapists are experts in all areas of language. In practice, you work closely with doctors and other therapists and work independently and responsibly. To help your patients communicate better, you create individual therapy plans after thorough examination and implement them.
