Design Project Manager
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Initiation:
- Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Define the scope of work for AV, structured cabling, and security systems design and installation.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets, considering integration with building infrastructure and construction schedules.
- Identify and procure necessary resources, including but not limited to equipment, materials, and personnel.
Design Coordination and Integration:
- Lead the design team in developing detailed plans and specifications for AV, structured cabling, and security systems.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of systems with the building structure and infrastructure.
- Oversee the selection and procurement of AV equipment, networking components, security cameras, access control systems, and other related technologies.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in system design and installation.
- Monitor project progress against established timelines and budgets, making adjustments as necessary to ensure project success.
Client Communication and Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing regular updates on project status, milestones, and deliverables.
- Address client inquiries, concerns, and change requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives.
Risk Management and Problem-solving:
- Identify potential risks and challenges that may impact project delivery and develop mitigation strategies to address them.
- Proactively resolve issues and conflicts that arise during the course of the project, seeking creative solutions to overcome obstacles.
- Implement effective change management processes to accommodate changes in project scope, requirements, or priorities.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and uptodate project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, change orders, and progress reports.
- Generate comprehensive project documentation for client (internal operations team) handover and future reference.
- Prepare and present project status reports and presentations to stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience in project management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
