***:The Director of Wallis Annenberg GenSpace serves as an effective and dynamic leader of a state-of-the-art community center for older adults that encapsulates Wallis Annenberg's vision for creating a space which reflects a 21st century community center for aging and longevity and includes a leadership initiative to help research and change the outdated national narrative on aging. The GenSpace can serve as a convening space for informing practice, while also advancing knowledge in theory and in practice the field of Longevity and Aging. The Director will work closely with Wallis Annenberg Legacy Foundation (WALF) leadership team to help imagine and execute on partnerships and networks that further Wallis Annenberg's storied philanthropic contributions in the field of Aging and Longevity. The Director will provide exceptional organizational leadership and management to a small and committed staff. The Director will also serve as a respected spokesperson to foster a local, state, and national platform to tackle aging stereotypes. The Director is expected to model the values of GenSpace, and be a senior partner to the Wallis Annenberg Legacy Foundation (WALF) leadership to accomplish Wallis Annenberg's vision to _Redefine and update the Aging narratives and portrayals in the United States_.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ORGANIZATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Responsible for
    strategic leadership and oversight of all aspects of Wallis Annenberg GenSpace with direct report to the Wallis Annenberg Legacy Foundation's Chief Operations and Strategy Officer.
  • Exert leadership and maintain
    an indepth understanding of all aspects of current aging needs and resources, and best practices, and model programs, in a community center setting for older adults.
  • At the invitation of the VP, present at biannual meetings of the
    Board of Directors and some committees of the Wallis Annenberg Legacy Foundation which could include the audit and investment committees.

OPERATIONS

  • Oversight of
    operations of Wallis Annenberg GenSpace including supervision of Program Manager and other key staff, budget, partnerships, programming, and relevant facilities/infrastructure.
  • Work with WALF leadership & Director of Finance
    to develop annual operating budgets; monitor expenses & income, ensure accurate forecasting throughout the fiscal year, and take appropriate action to maintain the fiscal health & sustainability of GenSpace. This could include exploring new public and private sector resources for the expansion and sustainability of this innovative model.
  • Work in alignment with the
    Wilshire Boulevard Temple's staff for overall maintenance and operations of center.

Adhere to a wide range of city, county, state, federal regulations that govern operations of community centers and spaces for older adults.


COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  • Be responsible for the development, implementation, and operation of the Wallis Annenberg
    GenSpace Leadership role in the conversation on aging:
  • including partnerships, convenings, and events.
  • Partner with relevant marketing and communications teams and consultants on
    messaging strategy and avenues of public relations, related to Wallis Annenberg GenSpace vision, mission and values in the aging and longevity sector.
  • Cement
    partnership with the Wilshire Boulevard Temple and cultivate other community organizations, as well as local regional and national stakeholders in the aging and longevity space.

In concert with WALF leadership, serve as the "face" of GenSpace and represent Wallis Annenberg GenSpace in local, regional, and national meetings, advisory panels, committees, oversight bodies and professional organizations.


TEAM LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT

Provide staff leadership and work with WALF Human Resources to recruit, hire, and mentor the GenSpace team. Provide oversight of staff development and promote professional growth opportunities.

  • Work with GenSpace staff to refine the
    Wallis Annenberg Leadership initiatives that build the field of
    next generation of leaders across disciplines such as occupational therapy, gerontology, business, nutrition and more. Actively develop
    partnership with institutions of highereducation to provide innovative actionlearning opportunities for
    Wallis Annenberg Leadership Fellows & Wallis Annenberg Interns.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
_Supervise paid, contracted, and GenSpace team staff to ensure the smooth operation of programs, events, and meetings._


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Bachelor's degree, Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years
