About the Role:
As a CBRE Events Manager, you will be responsible for the management of a small team assigned to meetings, events & conference services.
What You'll Do:
- Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.
- Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and crosstrain staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.
- Serve as primary contact with clients for meeting & events forecasts and strategies. Troubleshoot and resolve client inquiries and escalated complaints.
- Maintain department budget. Approve purchase orders for event supplies as requested by the team.
- Implement enhancements for event success. This includes making improvements to processes, procedures, and systems. Review reports to measure productivity and present findings to management.
- Ensure operations and vendors are compliant with location requirements.
- Accountable for tracking department SLAs, KPIs, and benchmarks. Monitor related performance data and identify solutions for gaps.
- Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence parties of shared interests to reach an agreement.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve daytoday and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred with 35 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.
- Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems.
- Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
- Indepth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
- Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financialrelated calculations.
What you will need:

In order to thrive in this role you will need:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in a related field with 4+ years working in the meetings industry in areas such as a planner, travel manager, hotel sales or similar preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) preferred. Has at least 4+ years of formal supervisory experience.
- Experience working in or with a multi unit environment e.g. hotel, retail, food, etc. across multistakeholder, matrixed environments on a global scale to achieve objectives preferred.
- Understands the sales process, meeting dynamics, support services, vendors, and industry at large.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.
- Comfortable meeting and engaging with new people. Warm and engaging demeanor. Ability to assess circumstances, empathize and offer help.
- Requires indepth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.
- Strong communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work flexible work schedules based on business need.
- This role requires significant walking and other means of mobility, and standing for extended periods of time. Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull and frequently lift up to 35 lbs. and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
