Systems Engineer
Washington DC / Fully Onsite
Marathon TS is seeking a Systems Engineer to support a Federal client in Washington DC. This position requires the ideal candidate to be onsite full time in Washington DC.

Job Description

Overall system functionality, programming, trouble shooting and maintenance.
Analyzing systems operations and the results of systems tests, to ensure proper systems operation and determine the need for maintenance.
Ensuring that system malfunctions are identified and, where possible, corrected and advises the Project Manager of all malfunctions and the actions taken for correction.
Initiating authorized tests of the operation of the security system and designated components and subsystems to ensure proper operation or to identify the need for maintenance.
Advising the Project Manager of abnormalities and shortcomings of the existing system that may significantly affect the design of next generation systems, or results in the identification of better methodology or operational techniques.
Development and implementation of a robust preventative maintenance program.
Reporting any problems noted with the systems to the Project Manager.

Additional Job Duties:

Designing, deploying, and maintaining, Microsoft-based systems and infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, and related components.
Developing and implementing automation solutions to streamline system provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
Ensuring that system malfunctions are identified and, where possible, corrected and advises the Project Manager of all malfunctions and the actions taken for correction.
Troubleshooting and resolve complex technical issues related to Microsoft systems, networking, and security.
Monitoring system performance and conducting regular performance tuning and optimization activities.

Qualifications:

At least six years programming experience, of similar size and scope
Certification by Manufacturer of Solution as an Systems Engineer/Sys Admin
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
Strong familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation and system administration tasks.
Solid understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange Server, and related technologies.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice to Have:

Must be familiar with VMware products as well such as vCenter and vCenter Appliance
Should have some Linux experience or knowledge of as the Agent VI and Quantum servers are Linux
