    Gundersen Health System is seeking a casual call Rehabilitation Technician This is your opportunity to provide care to patients while doing the work you love in the beautiful Coulee Region.


    What does a Rehabilitation Technician do:

    • Supports our Therapists when working with patients

    What will this position look like:

    • Casual call = 16 hours per month
    • 2 shifts a month will be required. The position mainly covers clinic hours Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays.

    What you need:

    • High School Diploma or equivalency
    • 1 year experience in general service requiring basic occupational knowledge and skills.
    • Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

    Job Description:


    The Rehabilitation Technician performs delegated work under the direct supervision of an Occupational Therapist (OT), Physical Therapist (PT), Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) or Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA).

    Greets patients, assists with smooth flow of department operations, monitors therapists Epic schedules, responsible for safe and clean patient care space, assists with safe patient movement, may assist as patient chaperone and maintains a clean work environment.


    Major Responsibilities:

    Rehabilitation Technician supports patient care by:

    • Effective customer service skills to facilitate prompt, appropriate delivery of service.
    • Assisting with patient care, mobility and safety.

    Some examples are as follows:

    • Blood Flow Restriction set up,
    • Modality set up (Ultrasound, Electrical stimulation, Game Ready, Ice Pack, Hot pack,) Assisting patients safely onto equipment (bike, nu step, treadmill, Upper Body Ergometer),
    • Assists with safety as stand by assist with gait, treatment and transfers.
    • Assists with wrapping post operative extremities and adjusting braces and boots for safe and comfortable fit
    • Responsible for set up and clean up of patient care treatment area, equipment and supplies.
    • Completes isokinetic testing and training as directed by the therapist.
    • Assists with department continuous readiness to maintain standards set by the Joint Commission
    • Responsible for assistance needed with STP pager, which may include assistance toileting, transfers into vehicles, use of a lift for falls
    • Taking Blood Pressure
    • Involved with monitoring Epic schedules, coordinating and collaborating with other departments to assist in improving patient access.
    • Demonstrates reliability, timeliness and organizational skills and effective use of time to complete delegated work in accordance with established time frames.
    • Prepares patient upon arrival to and departure from the therapy department.
    • Maintains a clean environment meeting departmental standards, i.e. 5S.
    • Maintains inventory, ordering and departmental supplies, equipment and linen.
    • Arranges patient's transport within the medical complex using appropriate equipment and utilizing safety precautions as indicated by the patient's health status.
    • Supports infection control practices under the direction of the department AICP.
    • Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
    • Maintains and achieves proficiency in department competencies.
    • Participates in quality improvement activities in order to continuously improve patient care and department operations within scope of role.
    • Perform office duties as delegated.
    • Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.
    • Assists department in obtaining quality metrics, communicates and collaborates with clinicians, administration and patients as required.
    • Confidentiality of information is maintained at all times.
    • Assist with safe patient movement/transport. Involved with safe patient movement processes

    In-Patient Rehab Tech positions:

    • Obtain patient vitals
    • Check in patients.
    • Create tickets to ride to initiate patients' arrival for therapy & transport patients to room following therapy.
    • Any other patient care duties as needed.

    Education and Learning:

    REQUIRED
    High School Diploma or equivalency


    Work Experience:

    REQUIRED
    1 year experience in general service requiring basic occupational knowledge and skills.


    License and Certifications:

    REQUIRED
    Wisconsin Registered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required for technicians working with inpatients.


    Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
