Description

Tookey Farms has been owned and operated by myself, Sammy Tookey, since its beginning in March 2021. I have cultivated 1-2 acres of certified organic vegetables the first three seasons, but have secured an additional lease for 8 acres for 2024. The farm will start a second Saturday morning market and begin selling produce on the new site through a farm stand and a U-pick.

The sales specialist role will focus on all aspects of the farm between harvest and sales. This means working directly with myself to manage wholesale customer relations, vegetable harvest-wash-pack, direct sales at farmers market, and ensuring we have enough people to accomplish these tasks. The work will start in April and slowdown in the winter, but this role has the potential to grow alongside the farm over the next few years.

Duties

Sales calls/texts to grocery stores and restaurants

Participate in harvest-wash-pack

Ensure records of harvest and sales are gathered

Lead 1-2 farmers markets per weekend

Manage farmers market staff and maintain a schedule

Help develop farm stand and U-pick sales on new site

Requirements

Some experience on vegetable farms, at a farmers market, or in a produce department.

Ability to work hard and in all weather conditions

Good interpersonal relational and customer service skills

Passion for food and farming

Compensation

$18-$23 per hour depending on experience

Commission of market sales

Free farm produce

Bartering at the markets
