Description
The class incumbent administers security programs and manages all administrative support functions within the facility.

  • Direct supervision of a staff of 68 (Nurse Supervisor, Food Service Director, Maintenance Supervisor, Volunteer Services Administrator, Supervisor of Supply/Warehouse/Purchasing, Y.R. Treatment Supervisors).

  • Plans, directs, monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of the institutions' residential, transportation and security programs. Makes recommendations for new/revised policies and procedures and directs implementation of same upon approval.
  • Manages all support functions (medical, food services, maintenance or supplies) for the facility. Develops and manages budget and fiscal activities of each support unit.
  • Participates in the planning and development of programs for the care, custody and treatment of youth within the facility. Oversees individual client case processing, group programming and all operational procedures for specialized treatment programs.
  • Plans, assigns, reviews and evaluates subordinate staff.
  • Provides program evaluation/monitoring, planning and consultation and administrative liaison with specialized contracted programs (Grace and Snowden Cottages).
  • Maintains and prepares a variety of reports.

Job Requirements:


JOB REQUIREMENTS for Assistant Youth Rehabilitation Institutional Superintendent
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  • Possession of a Bachelors degree or higher in Behavioral Science, Social Science, Business Administration or related field.
  • Six months experience in health or human services program administration such as overseeing and directing the development, implementation and evaluation of health or human services programs and services; planning and establishing short and long range program goals and objectives. Providing advice to other agency organizational units through consultation.
  • Six months experience in developing policies and procedures.
  • Six months experience in staff supervision which includes planning, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of others.
  • Knowledge of budget management and control which includes managing a budget for the purpose of keeping expenditures within the limitations of available appropriations and available revenue and maintaining, monitoring, projecting and controlling a budget within set policies and procedures.
