- Conduct/direct safety training of all plant management and employees to ensure a thorough knowledge and understanding of safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain/verify employee training records are up to date and accurate.
- Ensure all management is communicating the safety messages to their employees and fostering a safe environment.
- Actively engage with plant management to get/keep them involved in all aspects of safety training, recognition and enforcement.
- Ensure operations complies with all OSHA, state and federal regulations. This includes implementing new programs within OSHA time frames.
- With management support, foster an environment in which everyone considers themselves a safety lead and constructively intervenes with one another
- Communicate with plant management about opportunities, risks and successes.
- Maintain all necessary reports and records
- Develop/ source safety programs and training materials as needed.
- Conduct the accident investigation and prevention process.
- Complete or ensure that a detailed cause analysis is prepared for all incidents and that corrective actions are taken in an appropriate time frame.
- Coordinate company back-to-work programs for employees injured on the job.
- Manage all environmental requirements and reporting needs
- Assist in other tasks as assigned.
- Associates degree or higher required, or equivalent years' experience
- 5-10 years' experience required
- Ability to learn fundamentals of plant operations
- Possess thorough understanding of OSHA regulations and overall best practices
- Demonstrate familiarity with requirements to maintain an Air Permit, Water Permit, and SPCC and SWPPP programs
- Must have organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exceptional attention to detail and good follow-up skills
- Must be able to lead and influence others with a positive attitude
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with employees and vendors
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Proficient in Excel and Word
- Willingness to work as team member or independently
