    Job DescriptionSummary of Job Purpose

    The Climbing Wall & Activities Attendant is responsible for a safe and enjoyable experience for guests of the Dodge Ridge Climbing Wall and Activities Area. This position will be responsible for the opening, normal and closing operating procedures of the Climbing Wall and Activities Area under the direction of the Base Area Director and/or Facilities Manager. This includes assuring guests are properly checked in and provide the necessary satisfactory customer service. This position is a KEY member of the Dodge Ridge Team.

    Job Duties and Responsibilities

    This job description is intended as a summary of the primary responsibilities of and the qualifications for the position.     • Climbing Wall Responsibilities
    • Assist in performing all opening and closing assignments for the climbing wall. Including inspections to assure safe operation of the climbing wall.
    • Understands that the wall requires attention at all times and will not leave unattended. Call for assistance if alone, understands that requirement is one-on-one supervision for wall. Perform "closing" procedure if leaving wall unattended.
    • Monitors each participant of the wall closely.
    • Completes documentation as necessary specific to Climbing Wall.
    • Follow the processes and procedures as outlined in the company "Climbing Wall Guidelines" document, including:
      1. Confirms each climbing zone is safe to climb.
      2. Explain what is to be expected during the climbing experience on the Climbing Wall.
      3. Ensure that each climber is secured into his/her climbing harness properly.
      4. Verbally explain and certify that the climber understands the Rules and Warnings of climbing on the Climbing Wall.
      5. Affirm that the climber understands what to expect once they decide to come down off the wall.
      6. Ensures that the climbing route is free from any other climbers.
      7. Ensures that the climber can climb.
      8. Makes sure that the Auto-Belay Safety System is retracting the cable.
      9. Act as a coach with encouragement and guidance.
      10. Be positive and happy while working with the Climbing Wall.
      11. Keep the flow moving smoothly and safely in the "Climbing Zone." Verify proof of purchase for the climbing tower. Maintain the que line in orderly fashion.
      12. Keep the Climbing Zone free and clear of any "NON" climbers.
    • Assist in the safe and proper operations of the bounce house and slide, ensures that slide has air and water as necessary. Assist guests as needed.
    • Maintain an organized and professional Activities Area, seek assistance as needed and communicate frequently with supervisors.
    • Demonstrate an ongoing commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Reacts in positive and prompt manner to all guests.
    • Assist other departments as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities to Safety

    1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, guests at all times.
    2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
    3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
    4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
    Job Qualifications

    To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential outlined duty satisfactorily.     • Excellent customer service skills, demonstrated by work or other applicable experience.
    • Be technically minded and strive to continuously build knowledge and skills.
    • Ability to demonstrate skills needed in the safe operation of equipment necessary to perform the functions of the jobs.
    • Strong communication skills including ability to speak clearly, respond well to questions, and possess group presentation skills.
    • Able to read and interpret written information such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure guidelines. Able to write required reports and complete forms upon request.
    • Good manual and physical dexterity. While performing the duties of this position, individuals are regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, reach with hands and arms; legs to walk, stand, kneel, talk, hear and see.
    • Be able to lift heavy and awkward items (up to 50 lbs.)
    • Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.

    Work Schedules

    Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.

    When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.

    You must arrange for transportation to work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snow-packed, and icy road surfaces.

    Working Conditions

    At any time during the Summer season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.

    Uniforms

    A professional appearance at Dodge Ridge is required. Please wear your name tag and uniform at all times during your scheduled shift. We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. The quality, color, and style of the items must be approved by your manager prior to being worn to work. All hats worn must have the Dodge Ridge logo while on shift.
