Job Summary


Position is responsible for developing a community based athletic training program with an emphasis on sports environment injury prevention and treatment.

Incumbent serves as a physical therapy aide when in the clinic (under the direction of a licensed physical therapist).


Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training


Licenses/Certifications:
State of Texas Athletic Training Certification


Experience / Knowledge / Skills:


  • One (1) year of experience in Athletic Training

Principal Accountabilities

  • Develops and coordinates sportsspecific clinics and/or screenings throughout the year in the community and school setting.
  • Performs routine treatment procedures according to the patient treatment plan developed by a licensed physical therapist.
  • Observes and reports patient's condition, reactions, and responses to treatment procedures to the supervising physical therapist at the clinic.
  • Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty
  • Maintains communications with other members of the healthcare team as indicated.
  • Serves as a liaison in the provision of athletic training services to area schools as designated.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports departmentbased goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
  • Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences. Models Memorial Hermann's service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.
