Position title:
Bacterial Pathogenesis Assistant Project Scientist (Yildiz Lab)


Salary range:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience. The posted UCSC Salary Scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See the scale titled, _REPRESENTED PROJECT __ (E.G., SCIENTIST) SERIES FISCAL YEAR_.

"Off-scale salaries", i.e., a salary that is higher than the published system-wide salary at the designated rank and step, are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions.

A reasonable estimate for this position is $75,300-$82,900.


Percent time:
Full-time (100%)


Anticipated start:
As soon as July 1, 2024.


Position duration:
Initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of reappointment. Should the hiring unit propose reappointment; a review to assess performance will be conducted. Reappointment is also contingent upon the availability of funding.

Position Description


The key job responsibilities will include conducting in-depth research on Vibrio species, exploring their biology, investigating the intricacies of infection processes and host-pathogen interactions, and characterizing in vitro and in vivo biofilm formation.

The selected scientist will be responsible for investigating the roles of cyclic-di-GMP signaling pathways in motility, biofilm formation, maintenance, and dissolution.


Qualifications

  • Qualifications for this position include a Ph.
D. (or equivalent foreign degree) in microbiology, molecular genetics, or a related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years of postdoctoral research experience in academia. Demonstrated experience in hostpathogen interactions and imaging approaches.
