Description


Duties:
  • Conducting surveys to assess necessary repairs to meet regulatory standards.
  • Communicating progress of completed work with personnel and senior officials.
  • Monitoring contracted work to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Performing technical inspections of US Army Vessels.

Requirements:
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Position involves 40-50% Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel.
  • Enrollment in Contracting Officer Representative (COR) courses is mandatory.
  • Air travel and occasional overseas travel are required.

Basic Requirements for Marine Surveyor

:

Specialized Experience: One year of experience in maintenance and repair of ocean-going vessels, including surveying for classification and appraisal purposes, determining conditions, and evaluating repair needs.

This experience is typical of a GS-11 level position in federal service.


Specialized experience can also include:

- Seagoing experience as a U.S. Coast Guard licensed marine engineer.

- Experience in a ship repair yard or engineering department of a steamship company.


Education:

Experience is required, and no substitution of education is allowed.

  • Male applicants born after Dec 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification for Selective Service Registration.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Trial/probationary period of one year may apply.
  • Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
  • Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.
  • Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized.

This position is a TERM appointment, up to 13 months, extendable up to 8 years.
