- Daily provision of inpatient medical care, including:
- Patient histories and physical examinations.
- Review of laboratory and diagnostic results.
- Independent clinical reasoning and ordering of additional laboratory and diagnostic studies.
- Adjustments to medical and pharmacological therapies.
- Daily progress notes.
- Discharge summaries.
- Communication with physicians & other providers involved in the patient's care.
- Billing for E&M services rendered.
- Order and schedule laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures; explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient.
- Order new medications or adjust existing therapies based on clinical developments.
- Monitor progress of patients, adjusting therapeutic interventions and engaging a collaborative hospital medicine physician, or specialty consultation, when necessary.
- Coordination of discharge transitional care & follow up.
- Participate in the education of nursing staff on the unit.
- Be actively involved with Quality Management, data collection, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Other activities and/or duties assigned.
- Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
- Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
- Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority.
- Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- Three (3) years nursing experience.

The Division of Hospital Medicine of the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking to fill three (3) full-time Advanced Practice Providers (APP).
This individual would provide direct patient care services (i.e. as a hospitalist) to medical inpatients at UC Medical Center, with the availability of a collaborating Hospital Medicine physician as needed.
Anticipated Schedule (may be subject to change): Mixed days/nights with an average of 91 nights, 66 days, 157 shifts per year, typically assigned in 7-day blocks.
Essential Functions
For Nurse Practitioner:
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.

Master's Degree from an Accredited Physician Assistant program.
