The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is seeking a
_Research Program Coordinator_ to coordinate various research projects in the Johns Hopkins Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry related to mental health interventions in community settings.

Projects include projects that seek to develop, implement, and evaluate mental health interventions outside of traditional health systems (e.g., schools), and more basic research to understand risk and protective factors for children and adolescent depression and disruptive behavior problems.

The Research Program Coordinator is responsible for activities related to participant recruitment and data collection, study protocol implementation, data entry, data cleaning, data analysis and reporting, and supporting the Principal Investigator in other research-related activities (e.g., literature reviews, preliminary data analyses, conference presentations, reports to funders, grant and manuscript preparation).

The RPC will work with the principal investigator of these projects, and with other program staff as appropriate to conduct these activities.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participant Recruitment & Data Collection_
  • Maintain and update database of existing and potential participants by drawing both from existing project databases as well as publicly available data sources.
  • Maintain records of recruitment and responses to recruitment and data collection activities.
  • Provide support assisting with planning for and coordination of evaluation of program training and service offerings.
  • Research Protocol Implementation & Maintenance_
  • Prepare for data collection through conducting literature searches and summarizing findings.
  • Preparing materials (both on paper and setting up electronic data systems such as Qualtrics surveys and REDCap databases) for use during data collection.
  • Conduct data collection using a variety of methods (e.g., surveys, qualitative interviews).
  • Assist with provision of training and support to other project team members in using project data collection systems (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap).
  • Data Management & Analysis_
  • Review collected data and forms for accuracy and completeness and obtain clarification/ corrections from study participants if necessary.
  • Complete data entry of study data.
Clean study data as needed.

  • Assist with analyzing results and compiling and disseminating findings.
  • Copresent (as appropriate) findings emanating from this research at local, state, and national conferences.
  • Meeting Coordination & Attendance_
  • Attend weekly project meetings with Hopkins team.
  • Organize and keep minutes of meetings.
  • Other Duties_
  • Assist PI with purchasing of project materials and processing of travel for research team members as appropriate.
  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to multitask and function with independence.
  • Knowledge/proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, STATA, MPLUS), and database management (e.g., developing databases in REDCap, Microsoft Access, Excel or SPSS) is desirable.
  • Knowledge/proficiency with JHUspecific software (e.g., Concur).
  • Enthusiastic, responsible, able to work independently, and have great interpersonal and communication skills, as well as meticulous attention to detail.

Specific Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for an extended period of time.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard.
  • Communication skills using the spoken word.
  • Ability to see within normal parameters.
  • Ability to hear within normal range.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some clinical or research experience in a related discipline such as Psychology or Public Health.
  • Some related research experience in child, adolescent, and/or young adult populations.
  • Related experience in data collection, data management, and/or data analysis.

$ $30.00 HRLY ($24,440 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
