GENERAL DESCRIPTION


Performs advanced (senior-level) administrative support or technical program assistance work for Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Motor Vehicle Division (MVD).

Work involves disseminating information, maintaining filing systems, and performing internal and external administrative support work. Communicating in writing, over the phone, and in person with external and internal customers. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Receives incoming calls and transfers if needed to proper department or specialist.


Coordinates processing of incoming mail and faxes sent to MVD, including logging mail received by the division, scanning documents, and sending to appropriate staff or folders.

Verifies payments in eLicensing system for MVD staff and external customers.

Responds to internal and external customers regarding licensing inquiries or payment issues.

Works with team members to appropriately problem solve licensing-related questions and payment issues. Updates and informs management of potential problems.

Processes and fulfills requests for surety bond and dealer license closure letters.

Processes all assigned work as instructed by the assigned deadline.

Participates in and provides input for special projects.

Travels up to 10% of the time. Travels by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.

Required to attend work regularly and adhere to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge - Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.

Skill - Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software.

Abilities - Ability to communicate effectively; ability to evaluate the effectiveness of new administrative systems and procedures.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education - Graduation from standard high school or equivalent required.


Experience - Minimum four (4) years' responsible clerical, or administrative support experience using a computer

Licensure and/or Certification - If driving is required, must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence.


Regulatory Knowledge - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TxDMV, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies, and procedures.

TRAVEL
May travel up to 10% of the time. May include overnight travel. Travels by car and possibly by plane. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.


REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE
A valid Class "C" driver's license is required.

If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.

A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
