ASSIGNMENT DETAILS:

UC San Diego is hiring a temporary Research Administrator to support the campus operations for the School Year.


Duration:
This role is anticipated to last 4 months


Compensation:
$36.00 to $38.46 per hour. Eligible for paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available.


Work Schedule: 8:00am - 4:30pm or flexible


Location:
Hybrid - onsite days (la Jolla Campus) are to be determined


DESCRIPTION:


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and nonFederal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of transactions.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with overlapping deadlines and short lead times and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
  • Proficiency in utilizing financial reports, queries, and using pivot tables or similar experience using other financial reporting tools.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals and groups. Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
  • Experience with all types of award mechanisms, including grants, contracts, subcontracts, and cooperative agreements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
  • Thorough knowledge in OMB circulars such as Universal Guidance, A21, A110, and principles of cost accounting standards including allowability, allocability, and reasonableness, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines. Proficiency in working with computer and information management systems. Knowledge of academic and staff personnel policies and procedures.
  • Experience interpreting and implementing all applicable University and agency policies, procedures, and guidelines. Experience working independently and following through on assignments with mínimal supervision.
  • Experience understanding and interpreting complex general policy guidelines and making independent decisions and initiating appropriate action. Experience with financial systems, reports.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18.

It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$67,200 - $119,600 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent:
$ $57.28
