    Rider University On-Campus Job Opportunity Sports Communication Graduate Assistant Department of Athletics Position Title: Sports Communication Graduate Assistant
    Reports To: Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication

    Job Overview: Rider Athletics is searching for a Sports Communications Graduate Assistant for the academic year. This is a part time position that is 20 hours per week for approximately 38 weeks (subject to change) and requires schedule flexibility during busy periods (i.e. various sport seasons, evenings/weekends, extra hours worked when needed). In addition to hourly pay ($15.37), this position provides tuition remission for six (6) credits per academic semester.

    If you are selected for this position, please note that appropriate attire for this office is business casual during work hours. This position is contingent for renewal for the academic year pending performance evaluation/review at the end of the academic year. This position is based out of Alumni Gym on the Lawrenceville Campus.

    Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Assist with coverage of Rider Athletics coaches, student-athletes and teams. Most likely wrestling, women's soccer, baseball and men's and women's cross country and track & field.
    • Attend select home and away contests to provide staffing support.
    • Communicate with members of the local media.
    • Promote events and creative feature stories.
    • Write press releases, preview stories and post-event wrap-ups for the Rider Athletics website.
    • Utilize computerized statistical software for various sports and update the website as needed after events.
    • Assist with creation of social media content to promote teams.
    • Meet weekly with the Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Communication to discuss workload and project updates.
    • Assist with website and social media analytic data collection and reporting it to the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for External Operations/SWA as needed.
    • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed.
    • Additional tasks as assigned.
    Minimum Requirements:
    • Must be currently enrolled in or accepted to a graduate degree program at Rider University for the academic year.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of various sport statistical software.
    • Ability to meet strict deadlines.
    • Social media platform knowledge (IG, Twitter, FB, Snapchat).
    • Some experience with Photoshop and/or InDesign.
    • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
    Preferred Requirements:
    • Experience with website content management software.
    • Knowledge of trends in sports communication and technology.
    • Familiarity with the rules of a variety of sports.
    • Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
    • Sports photography skills.
    • Past Internship/Co-op or professional work experience.
