Victoria's Educational Services is seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Group Teacher to join our dynamic team. Our mission is to empower individuals by enhancing their social skills, enabling them to forge meaningful friendships, boost their confidence, and successfully navigate social interactions. We cater to a diverse group of participants, including those facing challenges with forming and maintaining friendships, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, conversation skills, and self-confidence. Our participants often include individuals with autism or other conditions that affect their social skills.


Age Groups & Schedule:


  • Ages 68: 3:305:00 PM weekly
  • Ages 912: 5:156:45 PM weekly
Young Adults: 7:00-8:30 PM weekly


Facility & Resources:


Our sessions are held in a well-equipped location featuring a whiteboard, a variety of games, and activities designed to enrich lessons.

Teachers are encouraged to leverage these resources to create engaging and dynamic sessions. A teaching assistant (TA), either a volunteer or staff member in training, may be provided to support the sessions.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement engaging and effective lesson plans tailored to the needs of diverse age groups, focusing on enhancing social skills and building confidence.
  • Observe participants' interactions and behaviors, adjusting strategies to meet both individual and group needs.
  • Independently manage and plan weekly sessions, utilizing creative and impactful approaches to facilitate genuine connections among participants.
  • Collaborate with participants' counselors or speech therapists as necessary, ensuring a cohesive approach to skill development.
  • Document session notes, progress, and future plans, sharing this information with the company owner efficiently.
  • Set individualized social skills goals for participants, alongside goals for the group's collective development.
  • Facilitate weekly sessions structured around a checkin, a topic of the day, and structured play, aimed at encouraging genuine interactions and friendships among participants.
  • Encourage and guide participants in making plans to meet outside of sessions, fostering independence and realworld social interaction.

Qualifications:


  • Required: Teaching license in Special Education or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with multiple age groups, adapting lesson plans and interaction styles accordingly.
  • Proven track record of planning and executing lessons that foster social skills and confidence.
  • Strong initiative and the ability to work autonomously without direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to engaging with parents and other professionals in the child's support network.
  • Experience in setting and achieving individual and group social skills goals.
  • A warm, friendly, and welcoming approach, with a firm belief in treating all students with respect and dignity.

Independent Contractor
