About the role

  • Job Description
  • Scale Attendant Job Description: We seek a dedicated individual who will work in the scalehouse as a Scale Attendant at a busy EnergyfromWaste facility:
  • Monitor inbound/outbound truck activity.
  • Acquire and monitor accurate truck weights.
  • Communicate with various departments any scale operational issues.
  • Keep accurate records of all tickets, manifests, and supplies.
  • Reconcile transportation and disposal invoices for various Covanta facilities.
  • Handle special projects assigned by supervisor and any other related duties.
  • Ensuring that incoming loads are safe and do not contain any inappropriate material.
  • Enter truck information into computer systems.
  • Weigh trucks in and out.
  • Ensuring that customers and employees conduct all business in a safe manner and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Providing general upkeep of the Scale House.
  • Approaching all encounters with employees, customers, and vendors in a friendly, serviceoriented manner.
  • Balance the daily receipts to ensure accurate record keeping and appropriate billing.
  • Answer the telephone and provide information to the public regarding hours of operation, acceptable types of waste, location and directions to the transfer station and prices associated with disposal.
  • Ability to perform basic math to measure volumes and quote/calculate pricing for the customer.
  • Keep immediate supervisor informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
  • Be flexible to job hours. Overtime will occur at times, and you will need to backfill position when peers are on vacation or become sick.
  • The scalehouse is open from 3:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 4:00 am to 12:00 pm.
