    Description


    The Director of Development performs as a member of the development team reporting directly to the Executive Director of Development.

    This individual is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive major gift program including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of prospective donors.

    This individual will develop, grow and manage a portfolio of prospects within the institutions database.

    The Director of Development will work closely with faculty and staff, both within Indianapolis campus service area and statewide to promote the acquisition of philanthropic support.

    A successful Director of Development works efficiently managing time, develops strategies to obtain solicitations, and creates donor relationships that establish gifts to meet the strategic goals of the institution.


    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

    Customer Service Overriding Expectation:


    Demonstrate a strong customer service and/or student advocacy through a positive attitude of approachability, adaptability, strong problem-solving and desire to identify and support student success.

    Engage in behaviors that create an inclusive environment in which all people are valued and supported.
    Provide a professional level of customer service to both internal and external constituents.


    Major Gift Responsibilities:


    Directly responsible for the identification, cultivation, and solicitation of a portfolio of approximatley individual and corporate giving prospects and suspects.

    Understand the needs and interests of major gift donors and to create sustainable meaningful relationships with major gift donorsLearn and convey the strategic goals and mission of Ivy Tech Community College and the Indianapolis campus/service areaDevelop and propose measurable goals and strategies for solicitation of major gifts, including:


    Determining ongoing relationships with prospect/donorRecommending specific purpose and level of giftIdentifying those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitationAssuring that solicitations are carried out.

    Make a minimum of 20 moves per month by participating in all aspects of the gift cycle including:


    Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donorsDevelop appropriate cultivation strategies, including working with volunteers and board membersMove potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closureMake solicitations when appropriateMaintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition.


    Participate, as required, in Development team efforts including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for key prospects and internal planning efforts.

    Process documentation in CRM to include action items, strategies and progress tracking.

    Work closely with other gift officers to insure effective coordination of effort with their programs and to reinforce the prospect relationship continuum.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
    At least three (3) years of successful fundraising or related experience in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting constituents.
    Exceptional interpersonal skills including the ability to conduct public speaking engagements without instructionExceptional written communications and research abilitiesHighly self-motivated and organized ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and donors in order to develop relationships between them and the collegeInterest in all aspects of education and a dedication to promoting the college's fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with faculty, trustees, volunteers, and the development teamProven innovative ability in fundraising process to develop connections with unrelated prospectsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Master's degree or CFRE/equivalent

    Starting Salary Range:
    $65,000 - $70,000 annually (based on experience)
