Description:

We are currently supporing a large utilit company in their search for a Mechanical Engineer. The mechanical Engineer will work on the The Transmission Pipeline & Storage Engineering (TPSE) team, and oversee the engineering, design, execution, and closure of projects, focusing on natural gas transmission pipelines. Additionally, TPSE manages projects supporting Gas Storage Engineering within natural gas storage facilities. The team also maintains standard work processes, develops new procedures, and leads process improvement initiatives.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Engineer within the TPSE team, you'll contribute to the development, design, and execution of new capital asset installations. Working alongside fellow engineers and technicians, you'll ensure projects adhere to safety standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Designing, maintaining, implementing, or enhancing mechanical instruments, facilities, components, equipment, products, or systems.
Utilizing computer-assisted design or engineering software and equipment to perform various engineering tasks.
Collaborating with customers, colleagues, and stakeholders to discuss engineering products or projects.
Preparing mechanical specifications and technical drawings to ensure installations meet standards and customer requirements.
Establishing construction, manufacturing, or installation standards through detailed calculations.
Directing or coordinating installation, manufacturing, construction, maintenance, and testing activities to ensure compliance.
Compiling data and writing reports on mechanical engineering projects and studies.
Preparing equipment and material specifications and estimating costs for budgeting.
Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university.

Knowledge/Skills/Attributes:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Office Applications and Bentley ProjectWise, with the ability to learn new software.
Experience with computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Organizational skills with attention to detail.
Knowledge of natural gas transmission facilities design, construction, or operation.
Familiarity with relevant safety standards such as 49 CFR Part 192 and ASME B31.8, as well as Michigan Gas Safety Standards.
