- contribute to the provision of quality and timely policy advice to the Minister, the Department's executive and other government departments;
- contribute to consultation across government and with external stakeholders, to inform advice to the Minister and the Department's executive; and
- contribute to work tasks and deliverables that are part of complex policy projects, often with tight timelines.
- Experience in undertaking policy analysis and providing policy advice is required.
- Some knowledge, skills and experience with policy development and analysis in one or more of the following areas is desirable: climate change; environment protection; biological science; environmental conservation; threatened species; first peoples; public land management; regulation; waste management and/or the circular economy.
- Experience undertaking engagement with stakeholders on policy issues is desirable.
- An understanding of Victorian Government policy processes is desirable.
- Tertiary qualification(s) in social sciences, public policy, natural resources and environmental management, law or similar is desirable.

Bring your professional policy skills to influence environmental policy in Victoria and enjoy working under a flexible, hybrid working model.
The Environment, Climate Action and First Peoples Group in the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking Expressions of Interest from talented and driven individuals with skills and experience in environmentally focused policy analysis, policy development and policy advice.

As a Policy Officer you will:
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
The duration of the position will depend on the role/roles available at the time. These may be fixed-term, or ongoing. The work location is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available. Expressions of interest will close on 30 September 2023.
