Early Childhood Education Teacher

The purpose of the Early Childhood Education Teacher is to provide children with a safe and welcoming learning environment. The ECE Teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum using effective instructional methods and responsive assessment strategies.

The Early Childhood Education faculty and staff have a cooperative relationship with the faculty and staff members in the elementary school.

They form the foundation on which the higher levels of education are built at Divine Savior.

It is essential that all levels of the school work closely together so that the curriculum and other aspects of the school flow seamlessly as children grow from one level to the next.

The Early Childhood Education faculty and staff also work collaboratively with the pastors of Divine Savior Church. The goal is to work together in the spreading of the gospel.


Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education
• DCF required training

Duties
As a practical definition, the Early Childhood Education Teacher:

• Creates and cultivates a high-quality classroom learning environment.
• Nurtures a positive atmosphere where children are encouraged and guided along the learning journey
• Demonstrates and encourages respect for all children and staff members o Demonstrates organization and prior planning in all lessons, activities, and events
• Implements a proactive, appropriate, and consistent approach to classroom management
• Maintains a neat, organized classroom and contributes to the overall safety and cleanliness of the facility
• Demonstrates effective instruction
• Implements a variety of effective instructional strategies
• Implements developmentally appropriate practices which reach every domain of a child's development: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual
• Differentiates instruction to meet each child's individual needs
• Collaborates with the classroom's paraeducator to provide children with additional support
• Implements effective assessment strategies
• Utilizes a variety of developmentally appropriate assessment strategies o Documents children's development across all domains
• Analyzes assessment results and uses them to inform instruction
• Builds strong relationships with students, parents, families, and colleagues o Engages in appropriate and beneficial teacherchild interactions in the classroom o Communicates regularly and effectively
• Plans and organizes family events throughout the school year
• Contributes to teambuilding exercises with staff
• Maintains open communication with the director regarding classroom activities and concerns
• Strives to grow as a teaching professional
