JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Food Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining all HCFW policies and procedures.

The food safety manager provides leadership, support, and guidance directly to their team and indirectly and directly to other plant personnel to ensure; food quality standards, food safety guidelines, legal requirements (as they pertain to food safety) and customer expectations are met.

The FSM reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

The FSM will assure consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing good manufacturing practice (GMP) systems, validating processes, providing documentation, and managing staff.


Requirements:


  • Strong supervisory, communication, training, and interpersonal skills
  • Very detail oriented
  • Strong problemsolving skills
  • Experience in the produce industry is a plus
  • Working knowledge of GMP and food safety regulations is a plus
  • Effective organizational skill; Able to manage priorities and complexities
  • Knowledge of processing machines
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • PCQI, HACCP, and SFQ Practitioner certification preferred
  • Excellent communication, training, and team building skill
  • Good writing, statistical, analytical, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and respond to the concerns of managers, subordinates, and regulatory agencies
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a preferred

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develops, implements, manages, and tracks effectiveness of an integrated program, including systems, standards, procedures, measures, and tools to assure that food safety, quality, sanitation, and regulatory requirements are met for food products and operations.
  • Develops and delivers effective communications that provide partners at all levels with appropriate awareness and knowledge of quality assurance standards, program updates and process changes.
  • Support, and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety, employee safety, preventative maintenance programs and legality.
  • Works with crossfunctional team to investigate large scale consumer complaints at comanufacturing locations to determine root cause and develops strategies to reduce complaint incidences.
  • Coordinates the implementation of R&D activities on site through deployment of crossfunctional ways of working.
  • Assist in monitoring the results of raw material, inprocess product, & finished product testing for compliance with specifications
  • Lead the Food Safety and HACCP team at respective site.
  • Oversees and audits all plant quality and safety training activities, including monthly department and business unit quality and safety audits.
  • Perform 3rd party audit preparation and supplier audits as necessary.
  • Interacts with regulatory personnel, food safety auditors, and customers to maintain positive and responsive relationships and ensure rapid corrective actions through dynamic leadership and timely documentation.
  • May assist other managers in supervisory responsibilities as necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in science (Food, Chemistry, Engineering, Packaging) or equivalent experience preferred but not required.

Minimum of 2 years of food and/or manufacturing experience.

Knowledge in GFSI, FSMA, HACCP, Federal/State legislation, and OSHA/employment laws.

BPC (Better Process Control) certification preferred but not required.


Pay:
$65, $95,000.00 per year
