    Description

    Associate Director of Government Relations

    The Associate Director of Government Relations plays a key role in enhancing Wentworth Institute of Technology's engagement with government entities. This position involves developing revenue streams through partnerships, grants, and contracts to support the Institute's objectives. The ideal candidate will utilize their expertise in government operations and funding to establish beneficial relationships that align with the Institute's strategic goals.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Strategy Development: Work with the AVP to create and execute a comprehensive government relations strategy that secures funding opportunities and supports long-term objectives.
    • Relationship Management: Build strong relationships with key government stakeholders, elected officials, and policy influencers to advocate for the Institute's interests.
    • Legislative Monitoring: Stay updated on legislative changes that could benefit Wentworth, providing strategic advice to senior leadership.
    • Grant and Opportunity Identification: Identify grant opportunities and revenue initiatives with state and federal governments, aligning them with the Institute's goals.
    • Proposal Leadership: Lead collaborative efforts to prepare and submit grant applications and contract proposals, ensuring compliance and alignment with government priorities.
    • Advocacy and Representation: Represent the Institute in interactions with government bodies, identifying new opportunities.
    • Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with Advancement, Industry, and Foundations leads to achieve revenue goals.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
    • Professional Experience: Minimum 3 years in government relations or public policy, with a track record of securing government funding.
    • Government Procedures Knowledge: Understanding of legislative processes, funding protocols, and key policy areas in higher education.
    • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication, persuasive skills, and negotiation abilities.

    • Strategic Acumen: Ability to develop and implement plans leveraging government relationships.
    • Relationship Management: Expertise in nurturing relationships with government entities.
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze policy changes and craft strategic responses.
