Job description


The position of Production Scheduler uses his/her knowledge of the production process and reports to create daily and weekly production schedules.

They must also be able to comprehend reports and make recommendations about where improvements might be made. As a Production Scheduler, you should be able to multitask and provide quick responses to production problems. As generating reports and schedules may require the use of software, you must also have an aptitude for computers.

Here's what you can expect in the way of specific job responsibilities as well as time allocation estimates:

Scheduling (95%)

  • Create and maintain schedules
  • Determine the utilization of team members and resources in the most effective manner.
  • Provide quick responses to production issues
  • Identifying problems, troubleshoot them and help improve processes
  • Use software to generate reports and schedules
  • Ensure that company deadlines are met accordingly to established criteria
  • Review open sales orders to determine customer requirements
  • Utilize ERP system to auto‐generate manufacturing work orders
  • Release manufacturing work orders to the warehouse for kit picking
  • Coordinate/expedite orders to ensure schedules are achieved
  • Completes status reports, such as production progress, customer information and materials inventory
  • Notify Sales of any schedule impacts to customers
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the Operations Team

Support/Assistance (5%)

  • Provide consistent work direction to associates, including temporary staff, to ensure department objectives are met
  • Regularly assist the Customization (DIY/Embroidery) department with the accurate processing of a decorated customer order.
To be successful in this role, you need to have the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required with at least 1 year of prior warehouse/distribution or manufacturing experience
  • Strong knowledge of/experience with production processes in a warehouse and/or production environment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Proficient in knowledge of PC; including Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated strong technical, troubleshooting, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly detailed orientated with flexibility to tolerate interruptions and shift from task to task as needed
  • Manage priorities with strong organizational skills
  • Efficient, informative verbal and written communication skills
  • Sincere, positive, and service minded attitude
  • Capable of working independently, as well as within a team environment; ability to be a team player and is passionate about helping everyone on the team to be at their best
