Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Perform electromyography (EMG) tests on patients as directed by physicians.
- Prepare patients for EMG procedures, explaining the process and addressing any concerns or questions.
- Administer electromyography (EMG) tests according to established protocols.
- Record and interpret test results accurately, ensuring precision and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain and calibrate EMG equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the testing process, monitoring for any adverse reactions or complications.
- Educate patients on the purpose and potential outcomes of EMG testing.
- Upload completed EMG reports to patients' electronic medical records (EMR) or charts promptly and accurately.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
- Assist in scheduling patient appointments and managing clinic workflow as needed.
- Provide support and assistance to physicians and other team members as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., healthcare, physiology, biology) preferred.
- Certification as an EMG Technician or equivalent credentialing preferred.
- Prior experience performing electromyography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies (NCS) strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in operating EMG equipment and software systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in recording and interpreting test results.
- Compassionate demeanor and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment, seeing approximately 10-12 patients per day.
- Understanding of medical terminology and basic principles of neurophysiology.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and proficiency in computer skills.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patient needs.
- Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining patient confidentiality.
