Elementary Teacher Position:

Teachers at CASA Academy play an integral role in ensuring that our students, who we call scholars, make significant academic growth so that they are prepared for college, life, and society.


Day-in-the-life of a CASA teacher:

CASA teachers start their day with a brief all-staff meeting, then welcome scholars as they enter campus. Teachers lead morning meetings in their classrooms to build strong culture and community with their scholars. Teachers engage scholars in learning rigorous academics throughout the day including reading, math, writing, and science. They pull small guided reading groups to give targeted intervention to scholars based on their instructional levels. Teachers enjoy a 30-minute lunch break and 30-minute prep period to prepare copies, review lesson plans, contact families, etc. Teachers close their day at dismissal, helping to load scholars into cars or buses. After dismissal, depending on the day, teachers have opportunities to review upcoming lessons, prep materials, and/or collaborate with colleagues.


Teachers execute rigorous instruction, facilitate a positive classroom and school culture, develop strong relationships with families, analyze data, and continuously seek out opportunities for professional growth.


Responsibilities:


  • Execute rigorous, standardsaligned lesson plans with an end goal of ensuring scholars perform at or above grade level
  • Analyze data frequently and collaboratively as a means of fine
- tuning instruction to meet scholar needs

  • Build positive relationships with scholars grounded in respect, responsibility, integrity, perseverance, empowerment, and enthusiasm
  • Teach and maintain schoolwide procedures and systems
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and development through oneonone weekly checkins and staff professional development
  • Communicate productively with scholars, families, and colleagues to ensure the best possible learning environment for scholars
  • Take ownership of academic results and work to continuously improve them
  • Actively participate in threeweek summer professional development in preparation for the upcoming school year

Qualifications:


  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
  • Structured English Immersion endorsement
  • IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Previous experience teaching in urban schools preferred, but not required
  • Spanish proficiency preferred, but not required

Pay:
$47, $50,000.00 per year
