Job Description

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to oversee general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. Staff accountant responsibilities include AP, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, maintaining general ledger, preparing month-end close procedures, assists with reviews/audits, and cash management. A successful Staff Accountant combines excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with a thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting principles to prepare and analyze financial reports. The ideal candidate has experience collaborating with the accounting team and other company department staff.

Responsibilities

Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts and accurate workpapers
Manage and reconcile intercompany accounts
Complete various general ledger journal entries
Produce timely and accurate accounting reports and clearly present their results
Identify efficiencies and recommend improvements
Prepare financial statements and compare to budget
Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance
Manage and support the month-end and year-end close process
Assist with development and documentation of business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP
Support and assist with cash and accounts payable processes and procedures
Ad hoc reconciliations and projects

Skills

Proven experience as a staff accountant
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Understanding of GAAP
Awareness of business trends
Experience with multi-unit accounting business structure
Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes
Cash management/projection experience a plus
Hands on experience with QuickBooks accounting software
Advanced MS Excel skills including pivot tables
Accuracy and attention to detail
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
BS degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant

Hours

This position is a standard Full-Time position, with general business operating schedule, Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Travel

Travel is not needed as the company headquarters is located in Hopkinton, MA
