- Design, model and create assemblies using CAD software.
- Issue and prepare detailed drawings, specifications for shop production.
- Responsible for trailer design development and continuous improvement of existing and future products.
- Define part numbers and assembly structures for input into Bills of Materials.
- Determine long lead time items for an advanced bill of materials for purchasing.
- Create and maintain all engineering procedures and documents.
- Engineering support for all internal departments, outside sales, and customers.
- Perform and have the ability to carry out basic engineering calculations.
- Determine requirements based on sales specs for overall engineering product design.
- Evaluating material cost and strategizing the most cost-effective means for production
- Determine legal requirements based on DOT regulations for final design.
- Confers with research and development and prepares design modifications as required.
- Evaluating material weights to manufacture a durable but light product.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common drawings and schematics.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, dealers, sales staff, supporting departments and management.
- Ability to effectively communicate information to top management, coworkers and all parties needing notified.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Computer skills essential to the position.
- Ability to manage time and multiple tasks at once.
- Office and Manufacturing Environment
- Stand and walk long periods of time -Frequent sitting, work at a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including being physically capable of maneuvering self throughout facility, Operations area, product, and equipment.
