- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems using CAD software.
- Conduct feasibility studies and perform analysis to ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and safety standards.
- Create detailed drawings, specifications, and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
- Prototype and test designs to validate performance and functionality.
- Identify and resolve design issues and implement design improvements as necessary.
- Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are optimized for production.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 3-5 years of heavy industrial equipment design experience or related field. Master's degree preferred or 10+ years of relevant heavy industrial equipment design experience required.
- Proficiency in Autodesk CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360).
- Experience in Tube Mill and/or Steel Mill equipment design preferred. Experience in the design of heavy industrial equipment in other related industries will be considered.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus.
- Experience with GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) & general mechanical tolerancing required.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials (machining, casting, forging, etc.).
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
