    Job Summary As a departmental liaison:
  • Teach creative and innovative library instruction sessions that support diverse learners
  • Collaborate with faculty on creating inclusive learning experiences
  • Guide students and faculty in their research and connect them with relevant resources
  • Build relationships with assigned departments to ensure that library services and collections align with their teaching and research interests and to communicate on general library questions or concerns
  • Develop collections for assigned departments and participate in collections management activities and decisions. Collaborate with the Associate Librarian for Collections and other staff on stewardship of collections for assigned departments.
  • Learn, grow, and develop through professional development that connects to assigned academic departments, new areas of the curriculum, your own pedagogical interests, or emerging technologies and research methodologies
  • As a member of the Research and Instruction Services team:
  • Engage in all general research services and instruction activities, including shared Research Lab staffing
  • Participate in planning and development of instructional programs and in setting priorities for Research and Instruction Services
  • Participate in the development of programming that engages students, cultivates a deeper connection with the library and its resources, and contributes to an environment of inclusion and belonging
  • Demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity and contribute to providing an inclusive working environment

Benefits and Pay:

  • The salary Range for this position is expected to be: Minimum $71,500
  • Maximum $78,000.

Education/Skills Requirements-Required:


  • A master's degree from an ALAaccredited library program or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with faculty and staff.
  • Enthusiastic commitment to quality public services.
  • Strong organizational skills and creative problemsolving abilities and initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience providing individual consultations and group instruction and excellent presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use of a broad range of research tools and information resources.
  • Knowledge of current national trends in research services, governmentinformation resources and services, library instruction, and electronic resources.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in advancing equity and inclusion.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated success in developing programs targeted at undergraduate students.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents

  • Required:
  • Successful research services and individual and group instruction experience, with emphasis in the areas of government and legal studies, history, and economics.
  • Proven expertise in the use of legal resources and government documents.
  • Evidence of use of creative and innovative approaches to teaching.


  • Preferred:
  • Successful research services and individual and group instruction experience in Africana studies.
  • Experience teaching and/or collaborating with faculty members in use of digital humanities methodologies.
  • Practical experience with federal, open, and proprietary data resources.

Standard Work Days and Hours

  • Generally between 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m., Mon-Fri, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. This is an exempt position requiring time commitment necessary to satisfactorily complete job requirements. Schedules may vary to meet operational needs.
