    Description

    City and Country School, one of the foremost progressive schools in the country, seeks a full-time Math Teacher for Grades 3-8 working with students 8 -13, beginning late August 2024.

    The City and Country Math Teacher approaches math instruction with an interdisciplinary approach, finding authentic ways to connect mathematical understandings to students' social studies.

    Job Description

    • Encourage lifelong mathematical thinking and exploration for students
    • Develop, revise, and/or teach third through eighth grade math curriculum
    • Provide push-in math support in 3rd-8th grade classrooms and student remediation and/or enrichment
    • Collaborate with Group Teachers, Specials Teachers, Director of Curriculum, and Division Heads to find ways to integrate instruction with other curricular subjects, namely social studies and Jobs Program
    • Maintain an equitable and inclusive learning environment
    • Communicate effectively and establish strong working partnerships with families, students, colleagues, and administrators
    • Write reports and conduct Parent/Teacher conferences
    • Write math recommendations for high school applications
    • Lead Morning Math Programming provided to Middle School students (Grades 3-5)
    • Facilitate Afterschool math homework help (twice/week 3:15-4:00 p.m.)
    • Attend weekly Staff Meetings (Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m.)
      • Developmental knowledge of and experience with elementary/middle school aged children
      • Experience teaching math with a progressive approach
      • Willingness to work in close collaboration with colleagues and children
      • Experience with constructivist math programs
      • Familiarity with project-based, experiential curriculum development and instruction
      • Commitment to creating a culture of equity and inclusion
      • Effective classroom management skills
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills
      • Masters Degree in Education, Math Education, or related field
