CARE International is implementing the Generating Rubber Opportunities in Myanmar (GRO) Project in Southeast Myanmar.
    Background

Generating Rubber Opportunities (GRO) in Myanmar project aims to facilitate the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) , who are adding value or have the potential to add value to the rubber sector in Myanmar.

Many of these SMEs are run by individuals with a high level of expertise in a specific industry, but often lack basic knowledge in financial management, business management, administration, human resources, etc.

The SMEs in the rubber sector lack appropriate financial planning, forecasting, and accounting skills or access to such skills.

They are not always aware of cashflow management, credit management and debt management which limits their working capital to run day to day operations and makes it harder for them to plan for future expansion of the business.

Furthermore, the SMEs face challenge in managing their supply chain, transparent record keeping, inventory management and so on.

These leads to lack of financial visibility and transparency which impedes the ability for the business to get access to capital and to expand their business.

While working with these SMEs, GRO has found that they require Business Development Services (BDS) to enhance, expand and sustain their businesses.

The BDS service needs are in areas of but not limited to i) accounting and financial management ii) sales and marketing plans, iii) supply chain management, iv) using technology in business management, v) product development.
