Primary Purpose:

Ensure an aligned and articulated academic program in K-12 physical education. Support teachers and coaches with the instructional delivery of the
curriculum and provide professional development as needed. Assist the Assistant Director of Athletics and Director of Athletics in providing leadership,
coordination, and innovation to the district's athletic programs.


Minimum Qualifications (Experience/Education/Certification):

Bachelor Degree; Valid Texas SBEC teaching certificate; three years teaching experience in specified area and leadership experience. Obtain a valid

CDL within the first 6 months of employment.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Work collaboratively with campus personnel such as instructional coaches, PE teachers/leads, curriculum personnel, department heads,
etc. to analyze and respond to school data and educational trends in specified area.


  • Attend, serve as administrative support, and assist with the organization, scheduling of athletic events.
  • Assist Athletic Dept. leadership and campus administrators, if requested, with the selection, assignment, and evaluation of campus
athletic coordinators and coaches.


  • Assist with the resolution of concerns and complaints involving physical education, athletes and/or athletic activities.
  • Travel to support and oversee district athletic teams, as assigned.
  • Assist with athletic events and facility operations; identify areas of need and address needs effectively and efficiently.
  • Assist with department financial responsibilities, including the processing of payments for all game officials and other athletic events
workers.

  • Develop, manage, and update curriculum in specified area.
  • Work to facilitate the purchase of appropriate curriculum materials and supplies for specified area.
  • Respond in a timely and positive manner to requests for support from campus and district administrators.
  • Conduct classroom and coaching walk-throughs and provide appropriate feedback.
  • Effectively evaluate personnel and provide feedback and opportunities for professional growth, if assigned.
  • Model the use of technology tools for use in athletics, instruction, and student learning.
  • Model best practice in instructional, coaching, and leadership strategies.
  • Develop and deliver quality professional development for teachers and staff.
  • Communicate effectively and proactively with staff, students, parents, and community members.
  • Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in specified area.
  • Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and innovation to the overall Athletic programs at the Middle Schools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge/Skills:


  • Comprehensive knowledge of U.I.L. rules and procedures
  • Knowledge of best practices in athletic coaching and instructional strategies
  • Effective communication skills and ability to show initiative
  • Ability to utilize appropriate technology software, equipment and devices
  • Ability to collaborate across contents, grade levels, and locations
  • Ability to monitor and balance multiple tasks

Working Conditions (Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Demands):
Prolonged use of computer; work regularly requires work outside the normal work week; coordination of multiple projects; must be able to push, pull,
lift and/carry at least 50 lbs. work with frequent interruptions.
