SUMMARY:

The TOSA will serve as a Dean of Students who will oversee student life, student services and on-campus activities.

Their duties include implementing a student leadership program, building a strong student culture, and addressing student behavior through proactive measures in partnership with the principal, school psychologist, social worker, and outside partnerships.

The Dean of Students position is an outcomes based approach to building student leadership, increasing student attendance and enrollment, and closing the achievement gap for Solano students.

The 400+ students entrusted to Solano arrive at school every day with an extraordinary range of needs and aspirations.

We are committed to delivering on their right to an excellent public school education, and we are particularly focused on ensuring every student has access to exceptional educational opportunities through student leadership with a focus on fitness and neuroscience.

Knowing the needs of our community with 22 different languages, we will be offering a $12,000 stipend ($7000 recruitment and $5000 additional duties) on top of your certified teaching placement.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plays an integral role in the establishment and maintenance of a school climate that is conducive to learning, including overseeing the enforcement of school rules and regulations, and the implementation of disciplinary measures when deemed necessary.
  • Serves as part of the assigned school's administrative team; oversees the administration of school programs and the implementation of policies; assists in planning, organizing and evaluating services for professional and nonprofessional personnel such as staff development activities, resource management, and instructional program development.
  • Monitors the school's safety and security; directs and coordinates staff supervision of areas such as hallways and cafeterias; ensures that schools rules and negotiations are enforced by security personnel on the premises, handles student disciplinary measures.
  • Supports building strong family and community partnerships through engaging families and increasing community involvement to increase positive outcomes for students.
  • Coordinate with principals regarding caseloads, schedules, special education, transportation
  • Classroom observation of students
  • Support writing behavioral plans
  • Performs additional other related duties as assigned

Additional Leadership Opportunity:

  • Coordinates extracurricular and athletic activities; may engage in beforeschool, afterschool and evening activities as required. (Additional $12,000 for 21st Century Coordinator)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and abilities required to satisfactorily perform essential duties and responsibilities.


Knowledge of and Required Skills

  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Knowledge of PBIS, Conscious Discipline, and Responsive Classrooms with a focus on culturally responsive and brain based practices.

Ability to:


  • Work evenings and weekends
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Maintain effective working relationships with others

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge and abilities is acceptable.


Required

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid teaching certificate
  • Minimum three years' teaching experience

Preferred

  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Arizona State Administrative Certificate

Pay:
$50, $59,000.00 per year
