Job Summary


Foster-Adoptive home specialist/ Recruiter position can either a full time or contract position responsible for building new foster/ adoptive families in the DFW metroplex and initial case management of the homes.

Foster/ adoptive home developer identify, recruit, orient and provide training to new families in accordance with the Agency policies and DFPS minimum standards.

This person is also responsible for conducting foster home screenings and addendums, monitoring foster/ adoptive homes and conduct foster home assessments.

Works very closely with Child placing management Staff.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Identify potential foster/ adoptive families in the community through community recruitment activities.
  • Provide orientation to Agency Policies and DFPS Minimum standards.
  • Provide agency pre service and inservice training to potential families.
  • Obtaining documents necessary for the initial and subsequent verification of homes.
  • Regular visits with potentials families for support and guidance and document in the foster home records.
  • Report any abuse ,neglect or situations that affect the safety and welfare of the children.
- work with case managers and CPMS to for recommending foster families for child's initial and subsequent placement
- conduct home study screening and foster home assessments

  • Identify potential foster parents in the community.
  • Assist the Child Placing Management Staff and Home study worker in obtaining documents necessary for the initial verification and subsequent changes.
  • Regular visits with Foster families for support and guidance. and document in the Foster home records
  • Report any abuse or neglect or situations that affect the safety and welfare of the Children.
  • Work closely with case managers and the Child Placing Management Staff recommending the Foster families for the child's initial and any subsequent placement.
  • Conduct foster home monitoring and assessments.
Other duties and responsibilities assigned time to time for the effective functioning of the Agency


Qualifications and Skills

General Requirements

  • Behavior or health status must not present a danger to children in care.
  • Must clear a DFPS Background Check. Out of State employees must be cleared of an FBI finger print check.
  • Have a record of a tuberculosis screening, showing the employee is free of contagious TB.
  • Be physically, mentally, and emotionally capable of performing assigned tasks and must have the skills necessary
- to perform assigned tasks;

  • Complete a notarized Licensing Affidavit for Applicants for Employment form, as specified in Human Resources
    Code,

Educational qualifications:


  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university on social work or other human services field: and Nine credit hours in graduate level courses that focus on family and individual function and interaction. or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university. or
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work or other human services field: and Nine credit hours in graduate level courses that focus on family and individual function and interaction.

Professional/ experience requirements

  • One year of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency under the direct supervision of a person fully qualified to conduct child placement management activities or
  • Two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency under the direct supervision of a person fully qualified to conduct child placement management activities. or
  • Two years of documented full-time work experience in a child-placing agency under the direct supervision of a person fully qualified to conduct child placement management activities.

The experience in all three options above may include a maximum of 350 hours of formal, supervised field placement or practicum in child placing activities
