Position OverviewNavistar's Custom Engineering team has an opening for a Mechanical Engineer. You will be responsible for delivering complete engineered packages that meets the needs of our customers.

Custom engineering works with sales, dealers, and customers to engineer special features into their vehicles so they are ready to go to work for the end customer.

Engineers deal with every area of the truck from the front bumper to the rear taillights, and everything in between.

This is a fast-paced environment as our customers need extremely quick turnaround times on their orders.

Every Custom Engineer starts out by going through a thorough a training program where they learn to navigate the critical design systems of Navistar Engineering.

After the formal training the engineer enters a continuous mentoring process to learn more deeply all Navistar products and the systems that comprise each truck.

This mentoring process is a journey over years of exposure to new and challenging projects that develop engineers into great Truck Engineers.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop solutions to complex problems while maintaining the integrity of the productPerform packaging studies to meet vehicle integration requirementsImplement engineering changes by releasing new designs to production using CAD tools and creating Bills of Materials for large assembliesReview designs for completeness and accuracySupport all stages of projects lifecycleInteract effectively across the organization:

customers, application engineering, procurement, manufacturing, and other product development groupsRefer problems that cannot be resolved to the next level Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer ScienceAt least 2 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experienceORMaster's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science Additional RequirementsQualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.

Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired SkillsDegree in Mechanical Engineering- highly preferred Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development processExperience in release process of design and engineering changes for parts, assemblies, BOMsExperience in NX 3D modeling softwareExperience in 2D draftingKnowledge of GD&T and Tolerance Stack-Up AnalysisUnderstanding of manufacturing processesExperience in MS Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Company OverviewNavistar, Inc.
