Overview:

The Tampa Bay Academy of Hope is looking for a committed Training and Development Specialist for our Climate

Labor Initiative:
Maximizing Access to Training and Employment (CLIMATE) Program.

This role is pivotal in developing and implementing apprenticeship training programs in multiple sectors, including construction, information technology, and manufacturing.

The specialist will be responsible for designing curricula that meet the skill needs of each sector and include practical, hands-on training components.


Key Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Identify skill needs across various training sectors and develop comprehensive training programs that address these needs. Ensure the inclusion of hands-on training components to enhance learning and skill acquisition.

Instructional Delivery: Assist in the development and supervision of the hands-on delivery of instructions. Ensure training is effectively delivered and meets the program standards.

Safety and Compliance: Create and provide instructions for demonstrating safety procedures at the worksite. Ensure all training programs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.

Community and Leadership Engagement: Participate in community service projects and leadership development activities, integrating these elements into the training curriculum to foster a well-rounded apprenticeship experience.

Inclusive Employment Practices: Advocate and ensure that recruitment and hiring strategies for training programs are equitable and inclusive, actively working to reduce barriers faced by historically marginalized groups.

Program Reporting and Monitoring: Provide monthly updates and bi-monthly comprehensive reports to the Program Manager on program progress, challenges, and milestones.

Quality Improvement: Continuously work to enhance job quality standards within the training programs, focusing on wage growth, benefits, working conditions, and career progression.


Key Development Goals:

Curriculum Development Timelines: Develop and launch targeted training curricula within a 3-6-month period for each sector, with specific milestones for initial assessment, mid-point review, and final implementation.

Training Program Rollout: Successfully roll out new training programs across identified sectors, ensuring alignment with industry needs and employment trends.

Quality and Compliance Standards: Establish and maintain high standards of training quality and safety compliance across all programs.


Qualifications:


  • At least 5 years of experience in training and development, preferably within the specified sectors (construction, IT, manufacturing).
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing effective training programs.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations.

Required Goals:

Expand Apprenticeship Offerings: Establish and research partners for three new apprenticeship programs across identified sectors, ensuring alignment with industry needs and employment trends.

Enhance Sector-Specific Pathways: Specifically develop and implement a comprehensive employment pathway for the hospitality sector.

Formalize Partnerships: Secure at least 10 Memorandums of Understanding with new and existing partners to strengthen cooperation and ensure commitment to shared objectives.

  • Provide monthly reports to the program manager as updates on the program progress and goals. Complete bimonthly reports to the program manager.
