    Sustainability Services Field Engineer I

    Reports to:
    Director of Sustainability Services
    New York, NY

    Bright Power is seeking a highly organized, dedicated, and enthusiastic Project Manager to join our New Construction team.


    Project Managers work with real estate developers, architects, and mechanical engineers to consult on decarbonization, building performance, and sustainability through the design and construction phases of new construction and rehabilitation projects predominantly in the New York City metro area, that are pursuing various types of certification and incentive programs, including Energy Star, Enterprise Green Communities, LEED, and Passive House standards.

    Primary tasks
    Project Management and administrative tasks including:

    Organizing and maintaining project folders and resources
    Sustainability Services document generation for projects
    Calculating takeoffs for site visits
    Reviewing construction submittals across a multitude of projects pursuing sustainability programs
    Manage large multifamily projects pursuing green building certification

    Advise on decarbonization and sustainability as it relates to all aspects of a project (envelope, systems, configuration, materials, constructability, site related improvements, active design etc.).

    Recommend energy efficiency and resiliency strategies supported by engineering calculations, building science, and simulations

    Field Work

    Performing field verification and testing for LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, ENERGY STAR and Passive House projects
    Perform construction inspections and testing to ensure quality installation of building envelope and mechanical systems
    Track progress of multiple projects simultaneously and work with external construction teams to keep projects on track to meet

    Site report generation

    Research & Process Development

    Assist with process optimization
    Research and analysis related to construction and sustainability industry
    Maintain working knowledge of newest technologies and trends in the building energy industry
    Stay up to date on iterative changes related to ASHRAE Standards, Energy Code, certification programs and state/city energy incentives.
    Complete documentation associated with program compliance and liaise with partner program administrators


    Ideal Candidates Will Have:
    OSHA 10 or 30 preferred.
    Phius Certified Verifier or HERS Rater preferred.
    Multifamily residential project experience (preferred); single-family residential experience will be considered as well
    Knowledge of Passive House Institute US (PHIUS), Passive House Institute (PHI), ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction (MFNC), Enterprise Green Communities (EGC), LEED New Construction, and other

    rating/certification

    programs.
    Experience with or understanding of building energy modeling and analyzing results
    Work experience in engineering or architecture, particularly with an emphasis on building performance and sustainability
    Ability to read, interpret, and adjust

    architectural/mechanical

    plans and construction documents
    Ability to evaluate and perform engineering calculations related to HVAC systems
    An understanding of building science and building envelope design
    Experience performing construction inspections or construction management
    Experience with or understanding of performance testing of large buildings with complex systems and envelopes
    Excellent organizational and time management skills
    Ability to critically problem solve and troubleshoot independently
    Ability to analyze and disseminate data clearly
    Strong adaptable communication
    Strong writing abilities
    Proactivity and passion for leading a project team to implement high-performance best practices into building design and construction
    Previous OSHA 10-HR and Scaffold Training preferred, but can be provided

    COVID Vaccination Policy

    Salary Range :
    $65,000 -$80,000
