Facilities Maintenance Technician
Part-Time, 20 Hours Per Week
The Town of Westwood seeks a responsible and reliable individual to carry out the duties of Facilities Maintenance Technician during the 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM shift.
The purpose of this position is to perform general custodial/maintenance work to maintain a safe and functional environment in all municipal buildings.
_Responsibilities include the following_:
- Perform a variety of custodial and maintenance functions in the Town's municipal buildings, including: stripping, waxing, vacuuming and shampooing floors/carpets, cleaning woodwork, windows and furniture; assembling, repairing and arranging furniture.
- Perform painting, carpentry and electrical work.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on municipal equipment and buildings; inspect facilities and assist in the development and ongoing update and implementation of a building's preventative maintenance program.
- Disinfect restrooms; empty trash containers and remove rubbish; process recycling materials; dust furniture and display cases; clean windows.
- Maintain records of work performed, including labor and materials used; receive work orders and determine priorities.
- Perform repairs, whether maintenance and improvementrelated or emergencybased, that do not require an outside contractor.
- Oversee the care and maintenance of all buildings and facilities under the authority of the Department of Public Works.
- Maintain normal availability by radio or telephone. Maintain contact with supervisory personnel to coordinate activities. Assist during emergency situations.
- Prepare meeting space for special events, including setting up tables, chairs, etc.
- Clear walkways and entrances around municipal buildings; snow removal, as required. Assist with snow and/or debris removal during weather emergencies.
- Check heating, ventilation and airconditioning systems for proper operation. Assure compliance with building, health and safety codes. Report concerns to Director of Facilities.
- Complete custodial/maintenance functions according to a prescribed schedule and in a timely manner. Respond to immediate custodial needs regarding safety and sanitary concerns.
- Occasionally lift, move and/or push furniture up to 100 pounds.
_Schedule:
_ Monday - Friday, 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM. This is a part-time (20 hours per week), benefit-eligible position reporting to the Director of Facilities.
_Salary and Benefits:
_ Starting hourly rate is $26.55 plus a $2.00 per hour differential for evening work.
