About the Role:
Wing is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Design team based in Palo Alto, CA. The position seeks highly-motivated individuals who enjoy working in a highly dynamic team environment.

The successful candidate is able to demonstrate a broad mechanical design, prototyping, and analysis skill set based on experience with driving products from concept, through prototyping and design, all the way to manufacturing.

We're looking for people who are intrinsically driven to solve hard problems with stunningly simple solutions, move fast, and are highly adaptive.

What You'll Do:
Brainstorm creative solutions to mechanical, manufacturing, and mechatronic problemsDesign elements of the aircraft and/or ground support infrastructure in CADSketch, design, build and test prototypes or proof of conceptsPerform detailed design of manufacturing ready parts in CADComplete engineering analysis from hand-calcs to FEAWork with teammates to collaborate and push for simple and elegant assembliesStrive for data-driven decisions that are well understood and communicated throughout the teamInterface tightly with manufacturing, electrical, UX and other teams on WingCollaborate with external vendors to bring your ideas to life at scaleWhat You'll Need: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a directly related field5+ years of full-time professional industry experience is requiredProficient in CAD software and EPDM (SolidWorks preferred)

Experience in designing robust mechanical assemblies, tightly integrated electronics enclosures and thermal solutionsExperience analyzing static and dynamic systems through hand calcs and FEAPractical knowledge of rapid prototyping fabrication and test methodsExperience in driving fast development cycles with vendors locally and abroadAbility to work independently, navigate trade spaces, and work within tight timelinesAdapts quickly to new requirements and inputsHighly collaborative and effective communicator across functional teamsBonus:

Experience with volume production manufacturing methods such as injection molding, die casting, CNC, sheet metal, and rapid prototyping fabricationKnowledge in Python, Matlab or equivalent scripting/scientific programming languages is a big plusStrong GD&T drawing expertiseBig plus for portfolios describing personal or professional projects which include challenging problems and process by which they were solvedThe US base salary range for this full-time position is the salary range below + bonus + equity + benefits.
