Description

The member will create relationships with UNC clients to determine and assess where there are gaps in coverage such as a lack of ethnic foods, language barriers, lack of transportation or lack of pantries etc.

The member can create signage and food education sheets to various populations that are translated into their indigenous languages.

The member will create recipes to use the healthy food provided so clients can eat healthy and on a budget.

The member will be a liaison between site staff and the Hindi, Gujarati, Creole or Spanish speaking clients who visit the food pantry.


Member Duties:

Member will create signage for food items, translate recipes, teach staff the words in the clients language so clients do not have to repeat themselves or point to items.

Member will build relationships with these clients and learn what other needs they have in the community and compile a report so that the agency can expand on services to integrate all groups equally.

Member will create informational flyers and demonstrations on healthy food choices. The member will be conducting group nutritional education sessions in the pantry when people come in.
