RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ASSISTANT TEACHER:

EARLY LEARNING
Works closely with Lead Teacher as an assistant to plan and implement lesson plans.
Interacts with youth daily.
Develops positive relationships with children and parents.
Encourages member involvement and identifies potential volunteers.
Preserves quality condition of all supplies, equipment, materials and cleanliness of site.
Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures including emergency procedures.
Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
Incorporates the mission, philosophy and 4 core values of the YMCA in all communication with participants and coworkers.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE AN ASSISTANT TEACHER
:

EARLY LEARNING
18 years of age or older
High School Diploma or GED required
Negative TB clearance
Possess knowledge and desire to work with children.
Possess mature judgment and sound decisionmaking.
Ability to communicate effectively with members, peers, and supervisor.
Ability to effectively communicate information on YMCA Child Care Programs.
Must be observant, safety conscious and able to react calmly and quickly in an emergency.
Prefer high level of flexibility and willingness to work all shifts.
